Karin Powell, Independent Civil Celebrant

THE PROJECT

We were tasked with creating a new brand identity for the civil celebrant Karin Powell. The brand needed to reflect Karin’s tone of voice being respectful, professional and simplistic. Karin is her own brand so had to be client-facing. She required a photoshoot which would sell herself to her clients as the face of her business, rather than just having a logo to hide behind.

Alongside the branding, Karin required a website which displayed all her celebrations and services she offers. Karin’s line of work can be confused with the work of a Vicar or an undertaker, so we needed to make sure the website outlined all the different events that Karin offers for her clients.

Our solution

Our solution offered a professional, high-quality website which used quality photos supplied by Ruth Rees Photography to speak for itself. Karin was herself, her brand so we used photos of herself in the main banners in the site. People would want to be greeted with a friendly, welcoming face on entering the site.

Accompanied by her photography, we created a brand which represented all stages of life. Using the Bluebell flower, we created a minimal icon which we embedded into a flowing serif typeface. The flower has significant representations of life and death which reflect Karin’s services as a whole. This Bluebell icon was then used on its own in different shapes amongst the site and stationary.
