Why Ysgol Calon Cymru?
We wanted to Help the education sector in Mid-Wales during lockdown. Schools in rural areas are often overlooked compared to those within cities. We wanted to ensure we could best help future generations with an online virtual learning environment which delivered the same learning experience on par with schools which often get more funding.

THE PROJECT
During the current uncertainty of Covid-19 and the looming presence of lockdowns, it was extremely important for Ysgol Calon Cymru to create an online learning platform which enabled pupils and teachers to continue their school experience whilst at home. We were instructed to develop and roll out a virtual learning platform which allowed pupils to view online classes, upload work from home and enable Teachers to view this work themselves.
The project began as a response to Covid-19 and needed to be complete when schools reopened. The system needed to continue education for its pupils rather than bring it to a halt again.
Our solution
Such a system could not be achieved within our usual online website builder Squarespace so, to create our solution, we switched to the learning platform Moodle. Within Moodle, we created a bespoke template around the Ysgol Calon Cymru brand guidelines which allowed users to easily login and navigate their way through their courses and subjects.
We provided a combination of intuitive graphic design elements along with a unique template which allowed users to keep track of, complete and upload their work on a week by week basis as if they were in lessons.
