Commotion in digital motion

Commotion will be going ahead over the coming months in a new format, and yes, it’s going to be a bit weird.

Running events at the moment is not top of our priority list, however, at the same time, it’s important to adapt and see if there’s any way that we can keep socialising (at a safe distance) over the coming weeks.

Therefore Commotion will resume online, even if it’s just muggins here, sat in front of my laptop with a beer, talking to myself. To be fair I think that’s going to be the usual for the next few Fridays anyway so why not embrace it?

It might be a bit strange, scratch that, it’s going to be very strange. Therefore I am pleading with you to join me via zoom chat (free tutorials for how you can get up and running are inbound) to make it a little less strange. So here’s how it might work:

Step 1 - Have a look at the three tutorials that I will be putting out online early next week and start embracing the joys of videoconferencing, yay! I will even show you how to change the backdrop of your environment to match your favourite pub!

Step 2 - Log in to our virtual pub after 5:15pm in Friday 3rd April. I will be posting an invite to the group on this page and via our new calendar for digital events and classes (project cabin fever).

Step 3 - Grab a beer (or 10, you have probably earned them), sit back and enjoy the ride. Our digital pub will have capacity of up to 100 so plenty of space. Should be interesting!

DISCLAIMER: To be honest I have no idea how this is going to go down, But join us on the 3rd of April and at least you can say you’ve tried something new. And if it’s just me online, on my own, then at least I’ll have those beers!

What is commotion?

Once upon a time and not too long ago, a weird and wacky group of like-minded people from the Builth Wells area chose to meet up on the first Friday of every month. At 5:15 pm we would have a post-work beer and a chat about work, sport, local community, technology, crafts and anything else that we damn well pleased :). I suppose it was closest thing to group therapy that we had. Some weeks there will be two of us, some weeks there will be 20. The numbers really didn’t matter, the important factor was to ensure Commotion helped those who could attend to kick back and unwind after a stressful week.

Hopefully in the not too distant future, we can return to our very comfortable and suitably normal outing on the first Friday of the month. I also understand that keeping Commotion running through this crisis should be fairly close to the bottom of the list of priorities. However, if It will help a few local parents in destress after having the kids for the week, then we shall keep pressing ahead!

As always, this is an open invitation.

Cheers and stay safe!

Elwyn
